South Carolina Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP)
The COVID-19 pandemic has left many families struggling for affordable housing. The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) assists very low-income South Carolina families to afford decent, safe, and affordable housing in the private market. South Carolina participants choose their own housing. The amount of voucher assistance is determined by a number of factors including total annual gross income and family size. Depending on annual U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding, South Carolina Housing provides up to 2000 vouchers in seven SC counties: Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee and Lexington.
